Flower Care 101

A guide to preserving the beauty of your blooms.

Each of our arrangements are thoughtfully designed using the finest, seasonal blooms. With mindful care, your flowers will continue to open, soften, and reveal their full beauty over time.

Upon Arrival

Unwrap with care
Remove any packaging, taking care not to damage delicate petals or stems.

Prepare the stems
Cut 1–2 cm off the bottom of each stem at a 45° angle using clean, sharp scissors or secateurs. This helps the flowers drink water more easily.

Choose a clean vase
Bacteria shortens flower life. Always start with a freshly washed vase.

Fresh water & nourishment
Fill with cool, fresh water. If you have flower food, feel free to add this now. Allow to fully dissolve before arranging stems in the vase.

Daily Ritual

Refresh the water every 1–2 days
Clean water is the single most important element in extending vase life.

Re-cut stems as needed
A small trim every few days on a 45 degree angle supports continued hydration.

Remove wilting flowers and leaves
Any leaves sitting below the waterline should be removed to prevent bacteria growth.

Spritz, spritz, spritz
Some flower varieties drink through their petals! Try misting your thirsty flowers such as hydrangeas and Phalaenopsis orchids to help keep them hydrated, or even try giving them a bath - soak in cool water for a few hours and watch them come back to life!

What to Avoid

To preserve freshness and form, display your flowers thoughtfully. Avoid placing flowers near:

  • Direct sunlight
  • Heat sources or appliances
  • Ripening fruit (which releases ethylene gas and can shorten flower life)
  • Dirty, cloudy or stagnant water

How Long Will My Flowers Last?

Every bloom is unique and longevity can sometimes vary from stem to stem - however as a guideline:

  • You can expect to enjoy your flowers for at least 3-5 days, and even longer when cared for attentively.
  • Some flower varieties may have a shorter or longer vase life. Remove flowers as they wilt to keep your arrangement looking as fresh as possible.
